Towns and Activities - Torquay

Torquay  (95 kilometres from Melbourne) is the start of the Great Ocean Road traveling East to West. The town has a surf culture being the home of Ripcurl (©®) and Quicksilver (©®)

The world famous Bells Beach which hosts the worlds longest running Pro Surf event is located nearby. Torquay has the both protected family beaches, and the action of the raging surf, nearby Jan Juc surf beach is a safe beach as well. Lifeguards patrol the beach in season.

Surfworld Museum and factory outlets for surf ware are other major attractions not to be missed.

The place to stay is Bells Beach Lodge, a friendly cosy hostel, close to the surf, shops and beach.

The local pub provides good food and regular entertainment.

Travel by car via the Surf Coast Highway. Daily rail services are available from Melbourne to Geelong. Local bus services are available from Geelong.
